We’ve Done Gone Viral, Ya’ll…

It hit Mama out of nowhere Monday afternoon. It whooped up on Daddy early Tuesday morning and on into that evening. Big Brother experienced the wrath Wednesday and Thursday, and there was no dodging the powerfully potent punch the stomach virus landed on the Triplets toward the week’s end.

“The rock it to the bang bang boogie.”

For many, it was the week of the Kentucky Derby. For us, it was the week of Upchuck Then Hurry (Hurry and clean up the vomit, because the next onslaught will come from another direction and be a whole heckuva lot browner).

Although our scrum with the stomach virus was something that I hope we don’t have to deal with again any time soon, there were a few things that I was reminded of, and I think they are all good things:

“The unsuspecting stranger
had better know the truth of wrong from right.”

A) I was reminded of how tough my wife is. If you were to compare and contrast our individual bouts with the same exact virus, hers would resemble Walker, Texas Ranger roundhouse kicking a group of stomach viruses in their hideous faces, making them beg for her mercy. Mine would look more like Ralphie beating the snot out of that creepy-looking red-headed kid with urine-colored eyes in A Christmas Story (the part of “Daddy” being portrayed by Zack Ward,(the creepy-looking red-headed kid with urine-colored eyes in A Christmas Story)).

“Scut Farkus! What a rotten name!”

2) I was reminded of a scene in Problem Child 2:

Problem Child 2 is a 1991 American comedy film and a sequel to the 1990 film Problem Child

If you’re wondering what it is like to care for three babies and a toddler with the stomach virus at the same time, go check out the carnival scene. That’s the best comparison I can muster.

C) Finally, I was reminded that we are a family, and we are all in this together…. through the good and the bad…. in sickness and in health… when we’re throwing up (or throwing down)… All the time. Lucky for us, we are well much more often than we are sick.

Goonies never say die.

Virus week aside, we have been super busy and are looking forward to the summer. Mama and Daddy have been able to slip away a couple of times and go see some pretty impressive live music with some pretty amazing friends, and everyone in the family has been enjoying being outside as much as possible.

ATL… Before Panic on Saturday
Oxford…. Double Decker… A buncha lovebirds.

We also hope that you guys are all doing well and living your lives to their fullest!

“That’s what.”

Until the next one…
